We need to be the change we want to see, we can’t expect others to do the right thing when we continue to do wrong. When balancing the different needs of the 4 stakeholders in any business (the shareholders, the employees, the customers and the communities), a guiding mantra of ethical leadership is this: we serve the customers, not the shareholders; we reward the shareholders; we support our staff to serve the customers, and we improve our communities. Instead of maximising profits to benefit shareholders, we should focus on making money to reinvest so as to create more opportunities.
