The Durban Regional Court imposed a five-year prison term on 41-year-old Shameer Goolabjith. According to the National Prosecuting Authority, the first two years of the sentence were completely suspended. The sentence for Goolabjith will be three years in prison in actuality. Natasha Kara, a representative for NPA in the province, claims that Goolabjith fabricated an allegation in July 2015 when suing the Minister of Police ostensibly on behalf of a complainant.
