As working remotely becomes the norm, we’re seeing an alarming pattern emerging among sexist leadership teams. Bosses have been overstepping their authority by urging female staff to dress more provocatively, saying that it would ‘help to win business’. According to a recent report from employment law experts Slater & Gordon, managers are actively instructing female employees to dress ‘sexier’ for video calls. A disturbing 35% of the women interviewed said they’ve felt the brunt of sexist workplace demands since lockdown began. Asking female staff (or male staff for that matter) to dress sexier, no matter what the reason, is discrimination. And it’s important to report this unethical behaviour.
